Say
“NO”
to drugs!!!
The
IGSMR has started a series of evening informative sessions on drugs
for parents and teachers. During lessons, the students get nearly
the same information.
The
first event
was organized by detective superintendent Arnold from the
Westpfalz police station. 60 parents of pupils from grades 7 and 8
joined the session.
Detective
superintendant Arnold gave examples from his everyday experiences
of how adolescents get into contact with drugs. He pointed out the
importance of social circumstances showing how “drug careers”
started and developed in time.
He made
clear that drugs are consumed in every social stratum and therefore no
child is 100 per cent protected. He also said, that drugs were playing a
role in every school, even if it happens in different forms.
For him it´s
very important that children acquire
good self esteem
from their parents, relatives and
school community to take with them.
A
“strong, confident” child can estimate the dangers radiating from
drugs a lot better and is so able to elude the temptation. Finally the
parents could have a look at illegal drugs up
close. Detective superintendent Arnold promised the
parents to be at their disposal in the future for upcoming
problems and questions.
Other
information events on our school will deal with the subjects
“mobbing” and “violence”.
