Graduation for college in Rockenhausen

(IGSMR with Advanced Level)

With the beginning of the school-term 2000/2001, IGSMR the comprehensive school in Rockenhausen started the last important phase of its development: building an advanced level. Students now have the chance to graduate for college resp. university in Rockenhausen.

The attempts to combine traditional education with innovative aspects like the job-orientated profile are continued in our senior classes.

Different Profiles:

IGSMR developed different job-orientated profiles:

Profile 1: Man and Economy

Profile 2: Man and Health

Profile 3: Man and Technology

For these profiles the normal curricula were modified and in parts newly developed.

 Job-Orientated Aspects:

IGSMR aims to give students a basis in modern general education and skills in important professional aspects.

Today a profound general education is as important as specific knowledge in subjects as economy, personal policy, the creation of business management structures, information about health, therapy and care or about significant technological affairs.

To guarantee an interrelation between education and these demands we work together with major technological companies and social institutions.

The students of our advanced level have the chance to go through different periods of  practical training. In addition the students gain the chance to learn another foreign language while training for their “Abitur”. They can choose between  French and Latin.

Special aspects of advanced learning:

-         Study groups: small, firm study-groups with chances for innovative teamwork.

-         Alignment: classes are offered to upgrade students from other schools to our  advanced level.

-       Reliability: all courses offered are definitely held.

-       Main Qualifications: self-directed learning and teamwork vital for college and  any job is encouraged.

-       Learning in context: different subjects are coordinated and aimed to

-       Problem-orientated learning: subjects focus on socially relevant aspects.

-     Outside school: excursions are offered according to  subject matters.

Organization of lessons:

Lessons are held from 8.05 am to 5.00 pm because of the different opportunities of choosing subjects, courses and study groups. There are usually no lessons on Saturdays.
